black woman's perspective
I started reading Debra Dickerson's razor-sharp take on "Wedding Crashers" (which I haven't seen yet, but being hot for both Wilson and Vaughn, I can't wait) because it looked like it offered an interesting perspective. She wanted to know why the studs crashed the weddings of every culture but hers, black. My first reaction was, "Maybe it was obvious their lily-white faces would be harder to get away with at a black wedding." But, on second thought, it's not cinema verite --that could have been very funny. Dickerson's objection goes so much deeper.
Dickerson talks about a terribly painful subject for black women that I can only relate to from the perspective of ageism, one that she tackles with such balls it's breathtaking.
It doesn't matter if it has nothing to do, specifically, with your particular circumstances. It's the human condition. Do read it.

I must say that I miss communicating with you today. I'm sorry but the dialogue is quite intriguing.
In response to observations from ms Dickerson's article.May I ask you never to forget that American white folks suffer from a racial insecurity unlike no other creature on Earth.
There are two reasons why the 'wedding crashers', could not slip into a multi ethnic wedding reception and and still get the support they so far have received.
One, the white southern christian controllers will have rallied the all the support they could against the movie, if these two white dudes came into naked or semi nude contact with two chocolate colored women.
Two, Hollywood's terribly mentally frailed female actors would not have been happy that the wedding crashers, shaked their tail feathers in a black wedding and seemed to enjoyed it. Remember white women are afraid , I think ,that white men may stray into the 'jungle' and white men are afraid white women will fall in love with the 'Big, big, Bamboo'with the chocolate flavor.
The racial insecurity of white Americans is amazing and is evenly divided between men and women.
There is not the same insecurity ,or to the same extent, from the other major ethniic groups, such as Asian, Hispanic, African , sub African and mediterrean ethnicities.
Now it must be pointed out that the wedding crashers did not venture into the Trailer Parks to 'jump N sway' with the 'red necks'from the RED STATES. They were also choosing the class to befriend, so there maybe a Mary Jo in Tennessee asking the same question , Why these dudes are not at her peoples' wedding?
